5 Best Movies Twilight Fans Must Watch

Published

on

Vampires, Werewolves, and a love triangle – this killer combination only points to the Twilight series. Though there have been numerous shows and movies made with charming vampires and their age-defying qualities, the werewolves added another dimension to the story rather than mere mortals human beings hunting the invincible. Such a combination of fantastical elements is hard to come by; therefore, to ease things up, here is a list of five movies for the fans of the Twilight series.

A Ghost Story

As the name would have anyone thinking, it has a ghost, but it is unlike any other ghost movie. A man recently died comes back to his suburban home as a ghost but later realized he is stuck there and must go through witnessing life after him. The movie [provokes the audience to question life after death and gives a fresh perspective on life and death. Make the most out of this movie by watching it patiently and with an open mind.

Red Riding Hood

In this movie, there is a love story, a werewolf hiding among the village folk and a werewolf hunter. The identity of the werewolf remains at the crux of the story, which adds mystery. There are some gory bloodshed scenes, but they are somewhat on the subtler side.

Awaken

The poster for this movie might mislead anyone for a sweet romance drama; however, what is inside. A love bubble seems to be in the making; however, a few minut6es into the movie, and you find the girl already dead. Things escalate (for the viewers) when Alex starts living a life with Rachel in his dreams, and the line between dreams and reality becomes slim. Director Derik Loo probably took some inspiration to venture off into the world of dreams after Nolan’s Inception, that came right before Loo’s Awaken.

Thirst

Thirst movie is about Vampire-serial-killer-noir with a mature story that builds upon the carnal instincts that come with being a vampire. It departs from the relatively recent aspect of the life of a young vampire and relates to the original tale of Count Dracula. The story follows a Catholic priest who volunteers himself to an experiment for a cure and later finds himself turned into a vampire. Director Park Chan-wook has given justice to the theme with his brilliant execution, which makes it a good watch.

Blood And Chocolate

This one brings in a werewolf again, but what’s the exciting thing about this movie shows the werewolf’s perspective. Another point of departure from the conventional approach is the werewolf is a teenage girl. Vivian falls in love with Adrian, a human, and thus faces the dilemma of love and family secrets. The movie might downsize on the CGI effects; nevertheless, the freshness of the film appeals to the viewer.

These movies transport from one fantastical dimension to the other. Although one is sure to miss the irreplaceable elements of Twilight, these movies are the next in line to the throne. So binge-watch them, if you must.

Here’s Why NXIVM Leader Keith Raniere Is Still Not in Prison

Published

HBO’s The Vow explores the history of self-improvement organization NXIVM, its members, and its founder, Keith Raniere. For years, Keith appeared to be a magnanimous life coach who helped his followers find purpose in their lives. But over the course of the nine-part documentary, audiences come to see his true manipulative personality and the dark, cult-like nature of the multi-level marketing group.

It’s now been over two years since Keith was arrested by Mexican authorities in Puerto Vallarta, where he had fled after the New York Times article about DOS, the secret women’s group within NXIVM, was published. Along with Keith, other key members like Allison Mack, the Bronfman sisters, Nancy and Laura Salzman, and Kathy Russell were also arrested on various charges related to NXIVM.

But where exactly is Keith Raniere today and what happened at his trial?

Where is Keith Raniere today?

After Keith was arrested and extradited from Mexico, authorities transported him back to the U.S. where he faced charges of sex trafficking, conspiracy, possession of child pornography, racketeering, and more. Keith was also accused of creating a sex cult under the guise of self-improvement, through which he pressured women to sleep with him and used them for his own financial benefit.

Over the course of his six-week trial, several women came forth and testified about the disturbing details of what they had done while in the cult. Prosecutors said that dozens of women had been lured into Keith’s sex cult with the promise of personal empowerment and growth, while he in fact was using the group to control these women.

One woman even testified to being kept in captivity in a closet for around two years after she did something that displeased Keith.

At the end of the trial, it reportedly took the jury less than five hours to determine that Keith was guilty of seven out of the 11 charges. He now faces a potential 15 years to life in prison.

Did Keith Raniere go to prison?

Despite the conviction being over a year old now, Keith is still awaiting sentencing from a jail cell in Brooklyn. The convicted sex-cult leader was scheduled to be sentenced during an April 16 hearing but the proceedings were delayed due to the fact that Keith had been unable to meet with his attorneys because of a 30-day prohibition of visitors at his jail to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Since then, there have been two more delays, all related to the pandemic, but in August, a federal judge rescheduled Keith’s sentencing to Oct. 27, in a courtroom that has been closed since March.

But jail time isn’t the only consequence that Keith faces. He’s also a defendant in a lawsuit that was filed in January of this year against him and 14 of his key NXIVM associates.

The lawsuit, which includes 80 plaintiffs, accuses NXIVM of duping them out of thousands of dollars through a pyramid scheme and making it “financially, physically, and psychologically difficult, and in some cases impossible, to leave the coercive community.”

Stream The Vow on HBO. New episodes premiere every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

T-BAR Reveals Why WWE Signed Retribution To Contracts

Published

By

T-BAR [Dominik Dijakovic] has finally revealed why WWE offered Retribution, the vigilante stable, contracts to become official members of the Monday Night Raw roster.

“WWE offered us contracts because it was financially cheaper than all of the security guards we kept injuring. We signed the contracts to pay for our hired guns to do our dirty work. Our goal is still to destroy our current employer, WWE,” T-BAR tweeted on Friday night.

In another tweet, he said, “Yes WWE is paying us to destroy their company, because we were successfully destroying it regardless. They think if we are under contract then they can contain/manage our chaos. But they will be unsuccessful. Stop overthinking literally everything.”

T-BAR was responding to David LaGreca, the host of the Busted Open Podcast, who wondered why WWE would willingly sign Retribution to contracts, even if its just in storyline.

A little later, T-BAR announced that he was going to bed before promising that Retribution will destroy both WWE and its “disgraceful Superstars with our hellfire.”

During this past week on Raw, announcer Tom Phillips reiterated on several occasions that Retribution have been signed to contracts and now have the permission to “do anything they want” in WWE. This fueled speculation on social media that either Vince McMahon, Adam Pearce, or Shane McMahon might be revealed as the authority figure that gave Retribution the platform to wreak havoc on WWE programming.

As noted earlier, T-BAR called out fans on social media for comparing him to Tom Hardy, who played the character of Bane in The Dark Night Rises movie. Over the last 72 hours, T-BAR has been extremely active on Twitter and many of his tweets have been met with both laughter and confusion.

It will be interesting to see if T-BAR addresses the tweets during next week’s edition of Raw.
