EXCLUSIVE: Ben Barnes talks Westworld, Punisher and Netflix’s Shadow and Bone

Published

Actor Ben Barnes talks to us about his roles on Westworld, The Punisher, and Netflix’s upcoming Shadow and Bone adaptation.

Welcome to a special edition of Take the Black Live, the show where we talk about all things fantasy, sci-fi, TV, movies and so forth. In this bonus episode, we welcome a very special guest: actor Ben Barnes.

Barnes has been in a bevy sci-fi and fantasy series, from Disney’s Chronicles of Narnia films to HBO’s Westworld to Netflix’s The Punisher. He was happy to chat about which roles have been his favorite, which Westworld park he would visit, and what to expect from Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Shadow and Bone, of which he’s a part.

SPOILERS for all shows follow below.

For the record, I fully support Barnes’ choice of that Punisher scene as his favorite accomplishment.

I also loved Barnes’ recollection of the acting advice he got from Colin Firth on their 2008 film Easy Virtue. There’s no release date yet for Shadow and Bone, but we definitely appreciated what Barnes could tell us about it.

We thank Barnes for the time, and look forward to speaking again in the future!

Filthy Rich has a lot going for it.

The new FOX primetime drama debuts tonight, and it’s the perfect TV series for this uncertain time in our lives.

If you’re looking for something to take your mind off everything, then Filthy Rich should be on your list.

Earlier this year, TV Fanatic’s Carissa Pavlica caught up with series star Kim Cattrall and showrunner, Tate Taylor, to speak about the series.

When asked about what fans can look forward to in the series, Kim said the following:

“It’s fun,” Cattrall said during the chat.

Beautiful Matriarch - Tall - Filthy Rich Season 1 Episode 1

“I think that’s what I’m missing in what I’m watching.”

“There is a lot of darkness in our story, but there’s a black humor also. It’s like the audience is in on what’s going on, which really leads to a lot of escapades, and unlikely ones.”

“But the show is just a lot of fun to watch,” the former Sex and the City actress adds.

“It reminds me, in the best possible way, of those shows that I grew up with, which I loved. Characters bigger than life doing outrageous things. And doing it in the very filthy, rich kind of way.”

Pious Matriarch - Tall - Filthy Rich Season 1 Episode 1

As for how the series came to mind for Taylor, he said the following.

“I had a lot of friends in the South, strong Christian women especially, who were very moderate, if not, in some people’s mind, barely practicing their so-called Christian faiths.”

“But their faith is important to them. It’s very strong. It’s very admirable, which is true love and acceptance.”

“In Christianity, like most religions, it’s been hijacked by extremists, and it’s a voice for them. It’s a voice for the decisions they have to make and obstacles that they face, and they’re only human in the end.”

Letter from Dad - Tall - Filthy Rich Season 1 Episode 1

“It also represents what I think is an underserved market. I call them the flyover states of America.”

“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. It is in no way pro-religious at all. It’s one of seven different facets of the show.”

Have a look at the full interview below, and be sure to tune into the series premiere at 9/8c on FOX.

Be sure to return to TV Fanatic after the east coast airing for a full review.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is an upcoming American internet tv miniseries primarily based totally at the Marvel Comics characters Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier created by Malcolm Spellman for Disney +.

It is set withinside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the franchise films. The occasions of the collection are observed through the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame. The series is produced by Marvel Studios, with Spellman as lead writer and Kari Scotland as director.

The official launch date for The Falcon & Winter Soldier:

Falcon and Winter Soldier were initially announced as a fall release, but Deadline revealed in January that the series had been moved to a late August 2020 release date.

In 2021 with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Vandavision by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany ended the Disney + list of Marvel Studios. Both projects debuted productions around the same time, but what’s difficult with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in this era of Coronavirus is that it has some foreign footage at its base.

The plotline of The Falcon & Winter Soldier:

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as the name suggests, bring Sam and Bucky back to the scene of the later story of Avengers: Endgame.

There is no official synopsis for the series, but after Disney headlined the teaser, Marvel called it a ‘global adventure that tests your skills and patience.’ It will feature the return of the villain Helmut Zemo, last seen in Captain America: Civil War, and this time in his mask from the comics.

You only know that Bucky would want revenge after the events of that movie. In the Civil War, Zemo controlled Bucky’s mind with a series of trigger words and created a sequence of events that nearly resulted in the death of the Winter Soldier at the hands of Tony Stark.
