How much it would cost to live in the homes from your favorite Netflix shows

Published

on

Sometimes when I’m watching my favorite shows, I wish that I could jump through the screen and check out the fictional world the characters live in. If you have ever wondered what it would cost to own the homes you see on your favorite Netflix shows, then you’ve come to the right place.

Salman Haqqi, the Senior Personal Finance writer for Money, wrote a fantastic article that breaks down the overall value of well-known fictional homes. You can check out the full article here.

Using Haqqi’s piece, we’ve figured out how much you’d have to spend to live in Sherlock Holmes’ flat, the Murder House, and more.

How much would it cost to live in Netflix show homes?

Without further ado, here’s how much it would cost to live in the homes from some of your favorite Netflix shows.

Sex Education: Otis’ House

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love Otis and Jean Milburn’s house on Sex Education. Not only are Jean’s decorating skills on point, but the location looks so peaceful. The overall value of the Milburn home is a whopping $2,453,315.63.

The monthly mortgage payment, based on a 10% deposit over 25 years, would be $9,791.42.

BoJack Horseman: BoJack’s House

BoJack’s house is probably my favorite abode on this list. Not only does BoJack’s home have floor to ceiling windows that overlook Los Angeles, but it also has a gorgeous deck and a pool with the same view.

The overall value of the Horseman home is $5,995,000.00. The mortgage payment would be $25,586 per month. Property values in California are no joke. If only I had been on a famous television show in the ’90s.

Schitt’s Creek: Rosebud Motel

Ah, the Rosebud Motel. From the moment the Rose family pulled into Schitt’s Creek, the motel has had a special place in my heart. Even though the motel was in rough shape at the beginning, the Rose’s put in a lot of work to make it nicer over the course of the series.

The overall value of the Rosebud Motel is $3,500,000. The mortgage payment would be $14,937 per month. Those numbers are honestly a lot higher than I expected considering how run-down the motel is supposed to be.

The Umbrella Academy: Hargreeves/Umbrella Academy Mansion

The Umbrella Academy mansion is probably the grandest home on this list. It features lots of dark polished wood, floor to ceiling bookshelves, and a giant facility in the basement to house your super children when they get out of hand.

The mansion has an overall value of $21,975,553.12. The mortgage payment would be $71,680 per month. I guess when you’re an otherworldly being like Reginald Hargreeves, money is no object.

American Horror Story: Murder House

I don’t know about you, but the Murder House from the first season of American Horror Story is the last place I would want to live. The only ghost I would want to meet is Vivien Harmon, and I don’t even know if it’s worth it considering who else I might run into.

The overall value of the Murder House is $633,336.00, making it the least expensive property on this list. The monthly mortgage payment, based on a 10% deposit over 25 years, would be $2,703.01. Compared to the other houses listed, the Murder House seems downright affordable.

Sherlock Holmes: 221b Baker Street

The flat at 221b Baker Street is a lovely little hideaway, but I don’t know if I could live there considering how often bombs go off, assassins show up, and murderers drop in without notice. Plus, we all know that Sherlock keeps some bizarre stuff in his refrigerator.

The overall value of Sherlock and John’s flat is $3,428,195.22. That’s almost a million dollars more than the Milburn house! The monthly mortgage payment, based on a 10% deposit over 25 years, would be $14,377.87. Freelance crime-solving must pay a lot!

Christina Anstead Opens Up About Split From Husband Ant: ‘I’m Working on Healing’

Published

She’s moving on. Flip or Flop star Christina Anstead broke her silence about her split from husband Ant Anstead, one week after revealing their breakup after nearly two years of marriage.

“Sometimes our calling is bigger than our plans. I never thought I would have one divorce let alone two. I never thought I would have [two] baby daddies — but sometimes life throws us curve balls,” the 37-year-old wrote alongside an Instagram selfie on Saturday, September 25. “Instead of getting stuck in these ‘setbacks,’ I choose to look at these challenges as opportunities to grow. So while some may judge me and throw around rumors about me, most of you support me. And that says a lot about this world and where we are headed. I’m messy, I’m real and I’m working on healing. I’m surrounded by extremely powerful women who help me cope, build me up and push me to be better.”

For those of you who don’t know me (or think you know me) let me reintroduce myself. I hate crowds, I love traveling, all things spiritual, the ocean and deep one on one conversations. I never thought about being on tv. I wanted to be a sports agent like Jerry Maguire. But I always loved looking at houses with my parents especially model homes and I always wanted to be my own boss… So in college when I was called (intuitively) to get my real estate license at a local community college I followed my intuition. I got started in real estate at 21 which led to selling houses which led to flipping houses which led to Tv. Now while I never wanted to be on tv, stepping out of my comfort zone and into the unknown has always been my thing. I live in a state of anxiousness and I’m so used to it that when it’s not there I tend to feel a void and hop into something that causes the feeling I’m used to. This can be good and bad. And it’s one of the things I’m working on breaking the pattern of. Sometimes anxiety and pursuit of new dreams leads me down amazing paths, other times it leaves me feeling lost and in a state of fight or flight / or crying in my closet. Tv changed my life and I am grateful for the life it’s provided, the experiences, the friends I’ve made along the way. Sometimes our calling is bigger than our plans. I never thought I would have one divorce let alone two. I never thought I would have 2 baby daddies – but sometimes life throws us curve balls. I’m surrounded by extremely powerful women who help me cope, build me up and push me to be better. If you’ve DM me or text me – I haven’t written back because I’m taking time to clear the “noise” and focus on myself and the kids. I appreciate the support and I hope my story inspires you to not be so hard on yourself for the decisions / choices you’ve made. We are all a work in progress. ✨♥️

She also addressed fans and friends who have contacted her with support since she announced the split. “If you’ve DM me or text me — I haven’t written back because I’m taking time to clear the ‘noise’ and focus on myself and the kids,” she added. “I appreciate the support and I hope my story inspires you to not be so hard on yourself for the decisions / choices you’ve made. We are all a work in progress.”

The HGTV star first announced she and the Wheeler Dealers host, 41, were parting ways on September 18. “We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future.”

The split was a shock to fans and friends alike. “No one saw this coming. I’m hearing that Christina and Ant just grew apart,” an insider exclusively revealed to Life & Style the day following the breakup announcement. “They’re very different people from totally different backgrounds, and that definitely played a factor.

“The crazy thing is that on the outside they looked like the perfect couple,” the source noted. “It just goes to show that you just never know what’s going on behind closed doors.”

The starlet also addressed how she fell into appearing on television — and how it hasn’t always been easy to manage her emotional wellbeing in the public eye. Christina revealed she “never thought” about being on TV and wanted to be a sports agent “like Jerry Maguire.” In college, she was “called intuitively” to get her real estate license and started selling, which led to pursuing house flipping, “which led to TV.”

“Now while I never wanted to be on TV, stepping out of my comfort zone and into the unknown has always been my thing. I live in a state of anxiousness and I’m so used to it that when it’s not there I tend to feel a void and hop into something that causes the feeling I’m used to. Sources tell Page Six that supermodel Gigi Hadid gave birth to her baby girl on her farm in rural Pennsylvania.

The insiders also told us that the birth date was Sept. 19. Hadid and the baby’s dad, pop star Zayn Malik, had been isolating on the farm since May, and were more recently reportedly splitting their time between Pennsylvania and Manhattan. Hadid’s mom, Yolanda, has a farm nearby.

Reps for Hadid did not comment, and sources familiar with the couple told us that they’re keeping all the details hush-hush until they’re ready to share them.

Page Six previously reported that Malik, the former One Direction heartthrob, bought the farm next to Yolanda’s, where he grows tomatoes, cucumbers and cherries, and likes to ride around on his ATV. The couple also reportedly have a horse, called Cool, while Yolanda has cattle, sheep and chickens over at her spread.

Hadid and Malik have so far only confirmed the baby’s birth in tasteful black-and-white Instagram shots of the newborn’s hand holding theirs. Hadid revealed on Thursday that the baby was born “last weekend” but without giving a specific date.

A witty yet heartfelt film, Misbehaviour was directed by multiple BAFTA Award-winning director Philippa Lowthorpe and written by Rebecca Frayn and BAFTA Scotland Award nominee Gaby Chiappe.

In 1970, the Miss World competition took place in London, hosted by US comedy legend, Bob Hope. At the time, Miss World was the most-watched TV show on the planet with over 100 million viewers. Claiming that beauty competitions demeaned women, the newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved overnight fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the competition. Not only that, when the show resumed, the result caused uproar: the winner was not the Swedish favorite but Miss Grenada, the first black woman to be crowned Miss World. In a matter of hours, a global audience had witnessed the patriarchy driven from the stage and the Western ideal of beauty turned on its head.
