Sony Debuted Gameplay Footage For ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’

Sony announced a follow-up to its acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man game earlier this year, revealing that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come out sometime later this year for PlayStation consoles. It’s a highly-anticipated release, one that centers on one of Peter Parker’s pals from the first game, and on Wednesday afternoon, we got a glimpse into what the game will look like.

Sony held a major PlayStation 5 reveal event on Wednesday, and early on, we saw a seven and a half minute trailer, one which shows a cut scene in which Miles walks around his environment, and after a brief interjection from Insomniac Games creative director Brian Horton, showed Miles in combat against Roxxon.

Beyond the look at how the game will play, it was announced that the game will come out sometime during the holiday season of 2020, which would put its release date right around the same time as the rumored release date for the new console. Plenty of details are still to be determined — it’s unclear if Spider-Man will appear in the game in any capacity, we still don’t know an exact date, and the full plot details remain up in the air — but based on the bits that we know, it looks like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has what it takes to be a worthy success to the original game.

Ava DuVernay Releases Powerful Statement After Breonna Taylor Ruling

The disappointment over the Breonna Taylor decision, in which none of the police officers were charged in connection with her death, has been felt all over the country. A variety of entertainers have spoken out and two-time Emmy winner Ava DuVernay shared a powerful rebuke over the many ways the justice system failed the 26-year-old EMT.

DuVernay told The Hollywood Reporter, “Our sis. We live in a world of crooks with titles and criminals with badges that will not give you justice today. But justice will come. And it will come from us.”

She continued, “Pushing and pulling, plotting and protesting, piercing the blue walls designed to terrorize us. Justice will come. Not today. But it will. Until then, we give you what we can. We give you glory. That word means that we will take pride in you. We will honor you. We will never forget you. We can give you this today. And tomorrow. And onward.”

DuVernay has been advocating for Breonna Taylor for months. Back on June 7, she tweeted, “Arrest the cops who killed #BreonnaTaylor. Their names, as reported by multiple news outlets, are Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove. We actually protect cops who kill Black people when we allow them to be anonymous.”

On September 23, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced there would be no charges in the killing of Breonna Taylor. A grand jury returned three counts of “wanton endangerment” in the first degree against former officer Brett Hankinson in connection with the fatal shooting of Taylor. A $15,000 cash bond was also attached to the charges. The other two officers, Sgt. John Mattingly and Det. Myles Cosgrove, were not charged and remain on the force. Hankinson was fired in July.

After midnight on March 13, Hankison, Cosgrove and Mattingly executed a botched “no-knock” warrant at Taylor’s apartment (although the Kentucky Attorney General claimed the warrant was not a no-knock warrant and the police did announce their presence prior to barging into the apartment) which she shared with her boyfriend Kenneth Walker. Believing they were intruders, Walker fired his weapon and gunfire from the officers ensued. The 26-year old EMT was struck six times and died.

The police raid found no drugs at Taylor’s apartment and she was not the target of the investigation. Rather, it was her ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Glover who police were after. Glover had been arrested earlier that same night.

Jamie Foxx Jokes That He and Friend Garcelle Beauvais ‘Should Have Been Together’: ‘I F–ked Up’

Dreaming of what could have been. Jamie Foxx and Garcelle Beauvais have been close pals for decades — but never took the next step in their relationship.

The Just Mercy actor, 52, and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 53, reflected on their longtime friendship during a recent episode of the “Going to Bed with Garcelle” podcast and revealed why they never took a chance on romance, despite their undeniable chemistry. When Beauvais teased that Foxx never gives any of her potential beaus “any real attention,” he wasn’t afraid to share his true feelings.

“I hate them all. I think me and you should have been together. So every time I see them, I’m like, ‘Damn. I f–ked up,’” Foxx teased. “So every dude, I give them a really shi–y look.”

Beauvais laughed off her former costar’s playful jab, adding, “I feel it and they feel it.”

The duo met while working together on The Jamie Foxx Show, which ran for five seasons from 1996 to 2001. More than 10 years later, they reunited for 2013’s White House Down and were quick to fall into their old routine on set.

“It felt like time had stood still,” the reality star told HuffPost about working with the Ray actor once again. “When we worked together [in the ’90s], we had made a pact that we weren’t going to date because it would be awkward if it didn’t work out and we still had to work together. … But now we’re like brother and sister.”

Though they’ve never really made the transition to romance, Foxx joked during the podcast episode that Beauvais would be stuck with him “forever” — no matter what.

“You know what I always say?” the Bravo personality countered. “Kandi Burruss was on the podcast and she goes, ‘You know, I don’t get it. Why aren’t you and Jamie together?’ And I said, ‘Well, you know, we have a really great relationship now.’ And then I said, ‘He’s also hung like a horse. What would I do with all of that?!’”

Despite their laughs, the Django Unchained actor is glad he and the Siren actress stayed firmly in the friend zone for over 20 years.

“I don’t know, it’s a tough thing when it comes to relationships … especially in our business because it’s an up and down thing,” Foxx explained. “Somehow, being a celebrity, they feel like you’re not human, and we do have things that are afforded to us or rewarded to us because we are [celebrities]. But on the inside, we’re still the same people from Texas or from Haiti. We’re still the same people.”
