Wolverine’s New Comic is Going Back To His Beginnings

Marvel intend to celebrate Wolverine’s 350th anniversary in style, in an adventure taking Logan back to his past with Team X.

Wolverine‘s anniversary comic is going back to his beginning, in an adventure that sees Logan cross paths with his old Team X colleague Maverick. When Wolverine made has debut as an Incredible Hulk villain, no readers could have expected him to become one of the X-Men – let alone the most recognizable X-Man of them all. Chris Claremont saw Wolverine as the embodiment of the battle between animal instincts and a desire for honor, and Wolverine’s inner conflict made his stories dramatic and remarkably identifiable.

He may be a mutant, but in truth nowadays Wolverine has a presence almost as great as the rest of the X-Men put together. Wolverine’s death was seen as a key moment in the history of the entire Marvel Universe, and his resurrection story drew in everyone from the Avengers to Daredevil. Wolverine joined up with the New Avengers team as the one man who would do what needs to be done, and he’s even been part of the Fantastic Four. But this December, Logan hits another milestone.

December’s Wolverine #8 will be his milestone 350th anniversary issue, an oversized special written by Benjamin Percy and with art from longtime Wolverine artist Adam Kubert and Viktor Bogdanovic. This is intended to serve as a celebration of everything Wolverine has stood for, as well as a launchpad for the next wave of Wolverine stories. Apparently a secret enemy will begin making moves against Wolverine’s old Task Force X team, and Logan’s investigation will lead him to cross paths with his old colleague Maverick. “I’m not going to reveal too much about what’s behind the curtain,” Percy observed in an official statement from Marvel Comics, “but get ready for an enemy I’ve been geeked to write since I first got the job. Legacy House is coming. And X-fans… know that we’re not only headed to Madripoor, but we’re bringing back a character you’ve all been missing: Maverick! So as soon as the dust and blood settles after X OF SWORDS, be sure to get your SNIKT on with WOLVERINE #350.

This is definitely a milestone to celebrate, and Percy intends to do it in style. It will be interesting to see how some of Wolverine’s old Task Force X colleagues fit into the House of X era, particularly Maverick, a mutant who was depowered in the Decimation – but could potentially regain his abilities through the X-Men’s Resurrection Protocols. There sound to be a number of flashback elements to this story, and if so that’s a smart move; it could potentially allow Marvel to retroactively seed some of the ideas behind Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men relaunch back through the franchise’s history.

2020 is a milestone year for DC Comics as well, with the release of this week’s Detective Comics #1,000. It’s interesting to see the different approaches taken by the two comic book publishers; both have chosen oversized issues, but DC chose to honor Batman’s history in a different way, by releasing an (excellent) anthology issue. It will be interesting to compare the two issues when Wolverine #8 releases in December.

However, looking at how Ko Moon -young when visited her mother and shared a schmooze giving her a sense of closure might have floored a way for its second season.

Even though no news has announced the series being poised to make S2, a scene that strongly disaffirms its termination after the 1st season was when the trio converged on the same stage was actually the Moon brothers going their separate ways.

Actor Park kyu -Yung playing ‘Nam Ju -el ‘ articulated his working experience with the lead actor Kim Soo-Hyun in an interview’  His energy was truly great. I’ve seen his drama fans even before I debuted and I was worried and nervous about how our teamwork would be. I asked him a lot of things I was curious about and he made working together very comfortably,so I’m thankful’.

“Oh my God, yeah! Scott Pilgrim is the best,” Mark said. “That film means so much to me. Every single person that worked on that film still means so much to me and is a part of my life. And to have reconnected with everyone recently — we did a read for charity, for Water for People … and it was so rad to see everyone after these ten years — which is crazy to all of us that it’s been ten years. What the f**k? How did that happen?”

Webber revealed that he and the cast knew at the time they were making something special.

“I knew at the time — we all knew,” he said. “Yeah, it didn’t make the amount of money it was supposed to make at the box office, but we all knew we made a really incredible, special film. And so it feels extra special now having seen the generations of fans and the cult status the film has achieved is just so rad.”

The actor then spoke about how he experienced the film as both a participant and a fan. “It’s cool to be able to watch a film that you’re in and feel that way. Every time I watch the movie it’s just so enjoyable. And being able to play my Sex Ba-Bomb albums in the car for the kids. They’re like, ‘That’s really you dad?’ And I’m like, yeah! It’s pretty awesome. I’m bragging to my pre-teen son that I’ve got 11 million streams on Spotify! Sex Ba-Bomb, this fictional band, actually ended up succeeding. It’s really a cool kick.”

Finally, he ended by reiterating his love for cast and crew and his hope that Scott Pilgrim will continue to thrive in the annals of pop culture.

“I love everyone on that film – we all have this really cool love for each other. And it’s really cool to see so many people rediscovering it and keeping it alive. It’s a bummer because the plan was it was going to hit theaters and be re-released, but then this situation we’re all in right now has turned everything upside down. It’s still nice that, despite the re-release not happening, it’s still being honored again.”

‘The Perfect Weapon’ and ‘A World of Calm’ Trailers: HBO and HBO Max Capture Both Sides of the Stress Spectrum

HBO and HBO Max have released new trailers that fall on the complete opposite sides of the stress spectrum. And based on their titles, it doesn’t take much to figure out which project falls on which side.

Check out The Perfect Weapon and A World of Calm trailers below, with one detailing the increase of international cyber crimes (including the Sony hack, with Seth Rogen reliving the wild scenario surrounding his 2014 movie The Interview), and the other providing a much-needed sense of serenity with A-list actors aiming to put you to sleep over peaceful nature footage.

The Perfect Weapon Trailer

Based on the book by New York Times writer David E. Sanger, The Perfect Weapon traces some of the most high-profile events of global cyber attacks in recent history. Here’s the official synopsis:

Directed by John Maggio, the film explores the rise of cyber conflict as a primary way in which nations now compete with and sabotage one another. Cheap, invisible and devastatingly effective, cyber weapons are the present and future of geopolitical conflict – a short-of-war pathway to exercising power. THE PERFECT WEAPON draws on interviews with top military, intelligence and political officials for a comprehensive view of a world of new vulnerabilities, particularly as fear mounts over how cyberattacks and influence operations may affect the 2020 U.S. election, vulnerable power grids, America’s nuclear weapons arsenal, and the global networks that are the backbone of private enterprise. The film also explores how the U.S. government is struggling to defend itself from cyberattacks while simultaneously stockpiling and using the world’s most powerful offensive cyber arsenal.

The Perfect Weapon debuts on HBO on October 16, 2020.

A World of Calm Trailer

After you’re done pulling your hair out about the likelihood of more election hacking in our future, maybe you’d like to enter A World of Calm, HBO Max’s new original series based on Calm’s popular Sleep Stories. Billed as “a totally new type of television experience that combines mesmeric imagery with narration by A-list stars,” this series features voice work from Mahershala AliPriyanka Chopra Jonas, Idris Elba, Oscar Isaac, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Lucy Liu, Cillian Murphy, Keanu Reeves, and Kate Winslet. Each episode will take you to a different location, “from a noodle maker’s kitchen in Seattle, to the forests of Latvia, and beyond our solar system to the outer stretches of the universe.”

A World of Calm launches on HBO Max on October 1, 2020…but it might be smart to save a couple of these half-hour episodes to use as an antidote to The Perfect Weapon.
