Corrie’s Nick Tilsley makes a big decision over his secret son

Published

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street‘s Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) made a big decision about his secret son Sam in tonight’s episodes, telling his ex-girlfriend Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) that he wants to be involved in the boy’s life.

Natasha was last seen in Weatherfield back in 2010, after a tumultuous relationship with Nick that saw her secretly have an abortion after falling pregnant, before later lying about still being pregnant in an attempt to win Nick back.

They couple ended up getting engaged, but Nick’s suspicious mum Gail (Helen Worth) uncovered the truth about Natasha’s ‘pregnancy’, after which the couple broke up and Natasha moved away.

A chance encounter with Natasha at the hospital last week left Nick with suspicions that Natasha might be hiding a secret after he overheard her talking to a doctor about her nine-year-old son and being cagey about the boy’s father.

In tonight’s (September 14) episodes, a suspicious Nick trawled through Natasha’s social media accounts and found photos of her son, Sam.

He soon came to the conclusion that Sam is his own child and phoned Natasha, announcing that he knows she secretly gave birth to his son after they split 10 years ago. A shocked Natasha quickly hung up on Nick but she later had a change of heart and turned up at his flat to speak to him.

While she berated Nick for ‘spying’ on her and Sam and initially denied that Nick was the father, Natasha ultimately confessed the truth to her ex, telling him that he had indeed fathered Sam but told him: “That’s where your contribution ended.”

Later, Natasha insisted that, as Nick now knows the truth about his son, it’s only right that Sam knows too, but Nick asked Natasha to hold off on telling him until he finds the right time to speak to his partner Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Natasha agreed but warned him: “Don’t you dare let Sam down. If you want a relationship with him it needs to be for keeps. You commit to him properly or you don’t see him at all.”

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like a good time will arise soon for Nick to speak to Leanne, as she faced anguish at the hospital with Oliver after Nick and Natasha’s meeting.

The doctor had earlier told Leanne and Oliver’s dad Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) that they were going to reduce Oliver’s sedation and try to remove his breathing tube, but this sadly didn’t go well.

Leanne and Steve were told that Oliver’s seizures are beyond the doctors’ control and that they’d have to increase the sedation once again, explaining that life support is now the only thing keeping him alive, leaving the whole family devastated.

However, Leanne announced that she won’t give up on her son and will do whatever it takes to help him recover, leaving Nick with no choice but to hold back on telling her about Sam.

How long will he be able to keep his secret?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.

EastEnders’ Mica Paris says the soap made her change her name

EastEnders recently welcomed its latest cast member in singer Mica Paris, and it turns out that the BBC One was an instrumental part of her career in a very surprising way.

The star reminisced about when she was first starting out, and made the decision to not use her real name because of how famous Michelle Fowler, played by Susan Tully, was at the time.

“Susan is an amazing actress,” Mica told The Sun. “I’m such a fan. My real name is Michelle and she was just so popular back then.

“I was just about to get signed at that point. And I thought, ‘Oh, she’s just too popular and my name will be too close to hers’.

“At that point you don’t even realise how big the show was. Everybody and Jesus was watching it every night. You’d watch ‘Enders and Wogan. And those were your shows, man.

“You ran home from wherever you were. School, after-hours club, whatever, you ran home for the shows. That was life.”

Mica’s character Elle Nixon has a connection to Denise Fox’s (Diane Parish) past, something which was briefly touched upon in last night’s episode, and will continue to play out in what Parish previously hinted as being one of the most challenging periods of her tenure in the Square.

EastEnders continues Monday (September 28) at 8.05pm on BBC One.

Arjun Mathur, who has bagged an International Emmy nomination this year, opened up on the experience and said that it feels good to receive validation worldwide although he did not receive it at home. The actor has been nominated under the Best Actor category for his performance in the web series Made In Heaven.

Arjun Mathur Reacts To Bagging An Emmy Nomination

Arjun told Mid Day that several people discouraged him from taking up the role of a gay person in the series. “But I followed my heart. When an honour like this comes your way, it validates your work. Often, we seek validation by way of the number of social media followers we have, or by bagging a big-budget Bollywood movie. But the world is bigger than that. I did not receive validation on home turf for years, but I am happier to receive it worldwide,” he said.

The actor essays the role of a wedding planner who also happens to be a gay. Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the drama also stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Jim Sarbh. Made In Heaven received an overwhelmingly positive response from both critics and audiences.

Farhan Akhtar, who co-produced the show along with Ritesh Sidhwani, took to his Twitter handle to congratulate Arjun. He wrote, “Congratulations Arjun Mathur, on the nomination as actor in Made In Heaven and to the teams of Delhi Crime and Four More Shots Please on their nom nods… Come on India.”

Four More Shots Please has been nominated for Best Comedy series and Delhi Crime for Best Drama Series.

Zoya, on the other hand, shared a picture with Arjun on her Instagram story and wrote, “International Emmy nominee. Best Actor. Made In Heaven,” and added a heart and dancing girl emoji in the picture.
