Sushil Kumar’s win on the fifth season of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati was one of the most iconic moments in the history of Indian television. However, Sushil who took home a cash prize of Rs 5 Crore, recently penned a heartfelt note on his social media account. He stated that his life post the KBC win hasn’t been rosy and has been full of trials and tribulations.

In his detailed Facebook post, Kumar opened up about going through an identity crisis and ending up getting addicted to alcohol and smoking whilst making a series of really bad financial decisions. He also shed light on how his overnight fame resulted in relationships within his family getting ruined.

Sushil titled his post as ‘The worst phase of my life after winning Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and wrote, “2015-2016 was the most challenging time of my life. I didn’t know what to do. I was a local celebrity and would attend programmes for 10 or sometimes even 15 days a month somewhere or the other in Bihar. I was drifting away from studies.” (sic)

He went on to add, “After KBC, I became a philanthropist, who was addicted to ‘secret donations’ and would attend about 50 thousand events in a month. Due to this, a lot of times, people cheated on me, which I got to know only later after the donations were made. Due to this, my relationship with my wife was slowly worsening. She would often say that I didn’t know how to differentiate between the right and wrong people and that I wasn’t concerned about the future. We would often fight over this.”

He also spoke about becoming obsessed with movies and how he would spend hours on his laptop watching award-winning films and how it inspired him to become a filmmaker. Kumar then decided to head to Mumbai to pursue his filmmaking dream but ended up working in TV soaps instead.

Speaking about his time in Mumbai, Sushil shared, “Since I was staying all by myself, here, I got the opportunity to look at myself objectively. And I realised a lot of things like, I am not someone who has come to Mumbai to become a director, rather, I am an escaper, who runs away from the truth. Real happiness lies in doing the work of your choice. One can never calm certain emotions like arrogance. It is a thousand times better to be a good person than just being a ‘big celebrity.’”

After going through everything, Sushil Kumar then returned home and became a teacher. He worked towards getting rid of his drinking habit in 2016 and added that he hasn’t smoked a cigarette since last year. Check out the entire post below:

(1 & 2 /6) It all began with Taarak Bhai’s iconic characters from his ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chashma’ stories in Chitralekha. This cartoon is of the Jethalal I grew up with. Thank you, Taarak Bhai. You are dearly missed. Your smile has kept us going. (3/6) Lucky for me, I had Asit Bhai, a longtime friend, and a seasoned producer who I trusted immensely and had worked with before, offer me the choice of playing Jethalal, adapted by him for television! Thank you, Asit Bhai. (4/6) Fast forward to look tests, a pilot episode, and finally, the first episode that aired on Sab TV on 28th July 2008. We were all given a glimpse into the world of Gokuldham Society for the very first time. We had absolutely no idea that more than a journey, this show would turn into a discovery! (5/6) It’s rightly said that it’s not work, if you love what you do, and the brilliant team that I work with day in day out, have made me fall in love with my work more than ever. To teammates who have had to leave us during the run, we miss you everyday and for me, you will always be an equal part, infact every department of this blessed production is responsible for this achievement today. So, thank you, Team TMKOC. (6/6) Playing this character is a gift that keeps giving. And a huge chunk of the credit goes to the fans and well-wishers of the show who have welcomed us and allowed us to be a part of their lives in so many unimaginable ways! So, thank you to everyone who’s reading this right now. And last but never the least, thanking the Ultimate Maker of this show called Life, for giving us all the constant strength to carry on this mission of spreading smiles. Jay Swaminarayan 🙏🏻☺️ . . . . #taarakmehtakaooltahchashmah #tmkoc #3000happysodes #iloveyou3000 #gratitude #blessed

Karan Johar makes a style statement at Mumbai airport

Published

On Sunday, Karan Johar returned to Mumbai from Goa. He was spotted at Kalina airport wearing a T-shirt, which had ‘good energy’ written on it. He’s not one to forget his style quotient and make a statement about the prevailing situation.

Karan Johar on Friday issued a statement debunking the media reports alleging that narcotics were consumed at one of his house parties, calling the claims “baseless and false”. In a lengthy statement shared on Instagram, the filmmaker said neither he consumes narcotics nor does he promote usage of any such substance.

Karan Johar’s response came after an old video from a star-studded party at his residence resurfaced on social media, amid Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) drugs probe in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. In the short clip, first posted by the filmmaker on Instagram last year, actors Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Vicky Kaushal among others can be seen partying together. It is being alleged that drugs were consumed by several top film personalities at this party.

Siromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa in a tweet has claimed that Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is set to summon Johar soon in the drug-related case. “Certain news channels, print/ electronic media and social media platform(s) are wrongly and misleadingly reporting that narcotics were consumed at a party that I, Karan Johar hosted on July 28, 2019 at my residence. I had already clarified my position way back in 2019 that the allegations were false,” Johar said in the statement.

Karan Johar’s statement further read, “In view of current malicious campaign, I am reiterating that the allegations are completely false and baseless. No narcotics substance were consumed at the party. I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume Narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance.”
