The Masked Singer: New Clues About Serpent, Whatchamacallit and More

Published

on

The Masked Singers are getting fewer and fewer each week — so now that we’re coming up on Season 4’s fifth episode, how are you feeling about the status of your guesses?

Before you answer that, allow us to remind you about this week’s Group B Playoffs, which saw Serpent, Crocodile, Baby Alien, Whatchamacallit and Seahorse digging deep to try and stay in the game. Our favorite performance, you ask? Why it was Seahorse’s rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” which made us want to paint ourselves like one of Jack’s French women in tribute. (Read a full recap.)

At the end of the night, Baby Alien was unmasked; he was revealed to be former National Football League quarterback/current ESPN commentator Mark Sanchez. (Read his exit interview here.)

Ahead of Episode 5 on Wednesday (Fox, 8/7c), it’s time to revisit our handy collection of clues. Our mission is clear but the work is cut out for us: Identify the celebs beneath the costumes before they’re unmasked.

All season long, we’ll update the gallery at right with information gleaned from this week’s show, and we’ll add our (and some of your) thoughts about who’s beneath the costumes. So what are you waiting for? Put on your thinking helmets masks and make sure to log your thoughts, theories and evolving guesses in the comments section!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends message to Donny van de Beek after leaving him on Manchester United bench

Published

The Red Devils are still waiting for their first win at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season after a goalless draw against Frank Lampard’s side, though Van de Beek played no part in the match.

In a quiet transfer window for United – save for a flurry of deadline day deals – the Dutch midfielder was their major summer signing in a £40million deal from Ajax.

But he is yet to start a Premier League game and was left to watch Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea from the stands even though United were trying to find a winner.

The decision to sign Van de Beek was questioned at the time, with United already well stocked in central midfield, but Solskjaer insists the 23-year-old will get plenty of opportunities.

Asked what Van de Beek needs to do to get involved, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: ‘No, don’t worry about that.

‘He’ll get his games, don’t worry about that. It’s easy to say who should be playing and more difficult to say who shouldn’t.’

United legend Gary Neville had been rather critical of the decision to sign Van de Beek while on commentary duty during the clash with Chelsea, even suggesting the Dutchman might regret the move.

‘What is a little bit of a mystery is the use of Van der Beek,’ said the former right-back.

‘He’s been signed for £40m doesn’t seem to be at the forefront of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans in every game.

‘It’s a bit of a mystery that one. The more he doesn’t start and the more he doesn’t come on the more you’re thinking: “Well £40m player ordinarily you’d get him in the team”. He must be thinking, “What am I doing here?” at this moment in time.’

Sacha Baron Cohen Had A Great Response To Trump Calling Him A ‘Creep’

Published

on

By

Recently Sacha Baron Cohen has been doing something he’s rarely done before: He’s spoken as himself. Usually he stays in one of his characters, but even when discussing his new sequel, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, he’s played things straight, earnestly discussing the serious issues his comedies bring up. Even when Donald Trump insulted him, he made sure to respond not as Borat but as himself.

On Friday, the president was asked by reporters about the climax of the film, which finds his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, in a compromising position with actress Maria Bakalova, whose character is 15 years old. As he often does, Trump played ignorant, saying he didn’t know anything about it, but he did claim that, 15 years back, he was the target of a failed Baron Cohen prank. “That’s a phony guy. And I don’t find him funny,” he said. “To me, he was a creep.”

Baron Cohen wasn’t having it.

Donald—I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you.

I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!https://t.co/itWnhJ8TQF

— Sacha Baron Cohen (@SachaBaronCohen)

“Donald—I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you,” Baron Cohen tweeted. “I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!”

Giuliani isn’t the only member of the Trump administration. Mike Pence plays a key role — and makes an appearance relatively early on — while a deleted scene finds Bakalova’s character, who winds up infiltrating right wing media, worming her way into the White House and shmoozing with Donald Trump Jr. At one point Borat even dons an elaborate Trump costume and gets thrown out of CPAC. If only Baron Cohen had gotten a one-on-one with the infamous Stephen Miller.

You can watch Baron Cohen’s latest film — full title: The Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan — on Amazon Prime now.
