Said Nurmagomedov obliterated Mark Striegl in just 51 seconds to open UFC Fight Island 6.
Abu Dhabi — Said Nurmagomedov wasted no time finishing Mark Striegl in the opening moments of UFC Fight Island 6 on Saturday.
The end came by way of strikes after Striegl looked to go for a takedown after being shaken up by head strikes early in the round. That proved uneventful. Nurmagomedov capitalized on that and landed a left hook and poured on the strikes to get the finish in just 51 seconds.
“I feel great, I didn’t get injured in that thing, it went pretty fast,” Nurmagomedov said in this post-fight interview.
Striegl left the Octagon before the hand raise, clearly upset by the loss in his debut.
Nurmagomedov was looking to bounce back from a loss
Nurmagomedov was looking to bounce back from a 2019 loss to Raoni Barcelos with the UFC newcomer. Striegl was making his UFC debut after a successful stint in promotions like Universal Reality Combat Championship and ONE Championship. He was hoping to extend his four-fight win streak if you don’t count the no-contest from his most recent URCC appearance.
And for the record, there’s no relation between Said and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
