Taskmaster fans love one thing about the new line-up

Published

on

Taskmaster made its Channel 4 debut tonight (October 15), dishing out its usual dose of dumbfounding moments and genuinely surprising acts of ingenuity.

The format has remained exactly the same since its move over from Dave, and tonight’s premiere wasted hardly any time in initiating those who are new to the show – although we’re about to.

Governed by the Taskmaster himself Greg Davies and his sidekick Alex Horne, the show sees five comics compete to complete a series of ridiculous tasks without breaking a very particular set of rules, all the while adding to their scores over the course of 10 episodes.

In tonight’s episode for instance, the latest assortment of comics – including Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Daisy May Cooper, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring – were tasked with dropping several eggs from a height into a frying pan sat on top of several oil barrels. None of them succeeded.

Anyway, the show’s first outing on Channel 4 seemed to go down well with new and returning viewers alike, and they’ve already decided which comic is their favourite.

This Country star Daisy May Cooper had people in side-splitting fits of laughter throughout the episode as she herself frequently broke into side-splitting fits of laughter.

Her hysterical guffawing brought some much-needed joy to those watching at home, although some did seem concerned that her laughing would result in her prematurely birthing her baby. Or peeing herself. Or both.

“Genuinely concerned that Daisy May Cooper is going to go into labour in tonight’s episode of #Taskmaster on account of how much she is laughing,” tweeted one viewer.

Another wrote: “Watching #daisymaycooper nearly expire laughing has lifted my soul. Thank you #taskmaster, welcome back old friend.”

Why an ‘active’ approach to risk modelling is key to navigating markets today

Published

on

By

Whether investors are aiming for a cautious approach or a riskier investment profile with the potential for higher returns, Architas’ Blended Fund range is designed to match a range of investor risk appetites. And like many asset managers, Architas predominantly uses two approaches to define asset allocation within the five risk bands used in the Blended Range – strategic and tactical.

Whilst risk model provider EValue’s quantitative approach to asset allocation takes into account the long-term performance of different asset classes and the likely future performance given current valuations, along with long-term measures of volatility and correlations with other asset classes. Yet as with most systems of its kinds, EValue focuses on the long term; it is unable to analyse short-term market movements and fluctuations. So whilst it would have seen that in Q1 2020 markets fell by a record percentage before rebounding, it will not be able to factor in the cost of the coronavirus and lockdown and its impact on markets. Similarly, it is not able to consider ongoing Brexit woes, geo-political trade wars or the outcome of the US election in 2020.
