Netflix’s twisted psychological thriller, Ratched, has shot to the number one spot on the streaming platform’s top 10 on the weekend of its release.
While the show received mixed reviews from critics, there is no denying that Ryan Murphy’s take on One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest has stirred the binge-watching community.
Ratched follows a highly-stylish asylum nurse, Mildred Ratched, as she tries to cover her malevolent nature with her seemingly innocent face and impeccable 1940’s fashion.
Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger, with Ratched finding herself in a not so favorable situation. After a highly successful season 1, let us find out what is next for the series.
Is ‘Ratched’ Renewed For Season 2?
Netflix initially ordered two seasons for Ratched way back in September 2017. The streaming giant has such huge faith in Ryan Murphy and Evan Romansky’s series and has reportedly commissioned 18 episodes of Ratched. Season 1 premiered on the platform with eight episodes only. Hence we are expecting season 2 to be a bit longer with 10 episodes.
When Will ‘Ratched’ Season 2 Release On Netflix?
We are already confident that Nurse Ratched will be coming back for more twisted episodes. Unfortunately, there is no definite date when Ratched will be returning for season 2.
Season 1 premiered on Netflix on September 18, and no matter how much we wish to see season 2 around the same month next year, we’re already bracing ourselves for possible delays.
Even Nurse Ratched herself has no clue when she’s coming back.
Speaking to Variety, Sarah Paulson who plays the titular role of Nurse Mildred Ratched said:
“Nobody knows anything about season 2 because Ryan, with the number of things he has going on, who’s to know when that’s all going to begin? And you throw in the pandemic and then we think well who knows?”
With that said, it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2022 before we could see fresh new episodes of Ratched. That is if they manage to begin filming by next year.
The Plot: What Will Happen In ‘Ratched’ Season 2?
Towards the end of season 1, nurse Ratched found herself in a precarious situation.
Her brother Edmund becomes determined to destroy her luxurious life in Mexico.
Edmund was scheduled to be executed by the electric chair, but Charlotte managed to save him.
After escaping, Edmund calls Ratched and tells her he will kill her. However, the unfazed Ratched says she will find him first.
We are expecting an epic confrontation between the two siblings in season 2.
Who Will Be In The Cast Of ‘Ratched’ Season 2?
The official cast list is not confirmed yet, but we are likely to see major cast members to reprise their roles and continue the series’ narrative to season 2.
They are Sarah Paulson for the titular role Nurse Mildred Ratched, Finn Wittrock as serial killer Edmund Tolleson and his accomplices Sophie Okonedo, and Amanda Plummer.
We’re also expecting to see Cynthia Nixon reprise her role as Ratched’s love interest Gwendolyn Briggs, alongside Judy Davis as Nurse Betsy Bucket.

Why an ‘active’ approach to risk modelling is key to navigating markets today
Whether investors are aiming for a cautious approach or a riskier investment profile with the potential for higher returns, Architas’ Blended Fund range is designed to match a range of investor risk appetites. And like many asset managers, Architas predominantly uses two approaches to define asset allocation within the five risk bands used in the Blended Range – strategic and tactical.
Whilst risk model provider EValue’s quantitative approach to asset allocation takes into account the long-term performance of different asset classes and the likely future performance given current valuations, along with long-term measures of volatility and correlations with other asset classes. Yet as with most systems of its kinds, EValue focuses on the long term; it is unable to analyse short-term market movements and fluctuations. So whilst it would have seen that in Q1 2020 markets fell by a record percentage before rebounding, it will not be able to factor in the cost of the coronavirus and lockdown and its impact on markets. Similarly, it is not able to consider ongoing Brexit woes, geo-political trade wars or the outcome of the US election in 2020.
