The Dallas Cowboys might have lost Dak Prescott for the season. How did Twitter react following the injury?
What appeared to be a dream matchup for the 1-3 Dallas Cowboys quickly became a nightmare. In the third quarter of their Week Five contest against the 0-4 New York Giants, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a severe ankle injury.
Having to be carted off the field, Prescott might be lost for the season. While still on the field, nearly the entire Cowboys’ roster came over to show Dak their love and encouragement. He was replaced by three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Andy Dalton, who will presumably be the team’s starter for the foreseeable future.
Prescott had thrown for 166 yards and one interception prior to suffering the possible season-ending leg injury against the Giants. He also posted the first touchdown reception of his five-year career earlier in the game.
Following Prescott’s injury, many swarmed to social media to express their feelings and emotions. From current and former NFL players, sports stars, media members, to fans; the outpouring of support for the current quarterback of America’s Team was massive. Below, we’ve collected some of the best tweets from Twitter for Dak.
The Dallas Cowboys may have to proceed the rest of the season without Dak Prescott under center. And as he’s playing on the franchise tag, Prescott is essentially in a contract year and is scheduled to be a free agent next offseason.
While the Cowboys will attempt to win ballgames without their fearless leader under center, speculation about Prescott’s future in Dallas will only build as the player and the team were unable to agree to a long-term deal after months of negotiations earlier this year. The unfortunate truth is there’s a chance Dak might have just played his final game with the Star on his helmet.
